The first course (PPL) is usually given in the Robinson R22 which accommodates 2 people. After you have received your license, you can fly that specific aircraft. To fly any other type of helicopter, additional courses with their respective exams are required. We call these courses ‘type rating’. HeliAir offers type ratings for all its helicopter types.
Almost all our courses are primarily done in the Robinson R22. This is the most sold helicopter type in the world. However, if you have done your PPL and/or CPL courses in a different type, HeliAir offers the type rating course for the R22 as well. This course consists of a theoretical part, a practical part and an exam.
After you have completed your pilot training in the R22, you’ll probably want to bring friends and family along for the occasional trip. The four-person Robinson R44 is the logical next step in your piloting experience. HeliAir owns several of these helicopters that can be rented. HeliAir offers both R44 type rating courses or the PPL course in an R44.
